NOW ACCEPTING - Early Childhood Professional Development Specialist


ESU 2 in Fremont, NE along with ESU 7 in Columbus, NE is hiring an Early Childhood Professional Development Specialist. This position will facilitate customized supports in multiple school districts throughout the region. Successful candidates will hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field; have a minimum of five years of experience; and hold the appropriate NE Teaching Certificate. Early Childhood Professional Development Specialist

Goal of Job: To provide early childhood on-site professional learning support for educators. This multifaceted position facilitates customized support to meet the unique early childhood (preschool-second grade) needs of school districts. The role consists of, but is not limited to, individual and team coaching, implementation of developmental best practices, and behavioral programming support.

Persons to Whom Responsible: Early Childhood Supervisor and/or ESU Administrator

Job Evaluation: Annual written job review(s) as determined by ESU policy

Terms of Employment: 205 days/year or as determined by need and administrative approval

Employment Location: This is a regional position supporting school districts in ESU 2 and 7


1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Inclusive Education

2. Minimum of five years of inclusive preschool and/ or early childhood experience

3. Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Early Childhood Education

4. Transportation is the responsibility of the employee (valid driver’s license)

5. Flexible and innovative mindset with the knowledge to support early childhood in a variety of capacities

6. Possess excellent communication skills, both in person and through technology

7. Strive to build relationships with school and ESU staff

8. Physical: regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer or hand-held learning device, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds


Preferred Experience: (not required as we are willing to train the ideal candidate)

1. Utilization of Pyramid Practices

2. Understanding of Teaching Strategies GOLD

3. Development and implementation of behavior and social-emotional supports

4. Experience with inclusive and developmentally appropriate instructional practices

5. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder

6. Knowledge and experience implementing tier one and two strategies for young children


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Work interactively in an inclusive preschool setting with educators by planning, teaching, and facilitating learning for students and the entire classroom

2. Provide on-site professional development and coaching on early childhood best practices

3. Develop relationships to support learning and development of students

4. Implement and support others in programming to meet student needs

5. Train in collection, analyzation, and use of data

6. Integrate and embed learning for all areas of development

7. Develop behavior intervention plan(s) as needed based on individual student needs

8. Uses effective, research-based, developmentally appropriate practices

9. Serve as a member of early childhood teams to provide collaboration and support for district initiatives
