The Professional Development Center at ESU #2 provides a wide range of services to area school districts. Training and consultation services in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and leadership are top priorities. Grant writing, coordination and management are provided for consortiums of schools in the ESU #2 area. The Professional Development Center also has a professional resource library with thousands of titles. These books and videotapes are directed at assisting teachers, principals, and central office administrators in fulfilling their job responsibilities. Decisions about PDC services are made by studying trends in education, surveying area schools regarding staff development needs. addressing necessary responses to state requirements, administrative requests, and proposing an annual program of services to the superintendents advisory council for their approval. |

| Training and
Consultation
Staff at the PDC provides awareness and informational sessions regarding state and national initiatives. Statewide writing assessment, district assessment portfolios, and improving math and science instruction, as well as other issues and trends have been the focus in recent months. We also communicate updated information through e- mail groups, on the ESU #2 web site, in our monthly newsletter, and targeted mailings. We provide consultation services regarding school projects such as curriculum development, staff development planning and implementation, federal and state grant activities, and school improvement/accreditation. PDC staff will also facilitate curriculum development and school improvement processes at the school site at no cost to our member districts. Resources are directed at in-depth training for teachers and principals in many areas of instructional improvement, classroom management, and assessment development and administration. Examples of trainings that have been available include Six Trait writing instruction and assessment and writing criterion referenced assessments. |
