How Full is Your Bucket?

April 25, 2010

The "Bucket Challenge"  is a fun and easy way to let your coworkers know they did something that helped you, made you smile, or positively touched you.  In March ESU2 started the "Bucket Challenge".  Everyone was  provided a little red bucket, and asked that they put it on their desk/work station, etc. so that others can find it.

Drops were available in paper form as well as electronically.  It's really fun to place drops in buckets.  Electronic drops are available at http://strengths.gallup.com/114079/Full-Bucket.aspx

. . . Think about a positive thing that recently happened during an encounter with a co-worker.  By giving them a "Drop", you can communicate your positive memory to them.

Our Bucket Challenge is based on the book, How Full Is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath & Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D.  The book uses a simple metaphor about a dipper and a bucket and decades of research to show how even the briefest interactions affect your relationships, productivity, health, and longevity.

A full bucket gives us a positive outlook and renewed energy. Every drop in that bucket makes us stronger and more optimistic.

So we face a choice every moment of every day: We can fill one another's buckets, or we can dip from them. It's an important choice -- one that profoundly influences our relationships, productivity, health, and happiness.

Start your own "Bucket Challenge" http://strengths.gallup.com/114079/Full-Bucket.aspx.
